Louvered:
A Louver is a movable horizontal slats contained within a shutter panel. Louver Shutters were traditionally used to cover open windows with delicate horizontal slats, letting in the light and the breeze. Today, Louver Shutters not only define and highlight windows, but also give homes a charming, traditional character. Louver Shutters are available in two widths, 14 lengths, and 16 designer colors plus paintable units.
Paneled:
The most traditional shutter, these come in a variety of styles: Raised panel, recessed panel, shaker panel and bead trim. Styles that use tongue and groove construction to secure the edge of the trim inside the stiles and rails are most desirable. This ensures that the trim can't fall off like applied moldings and protects the integrity of the design.
Board and Batten:
Often used on single-story homes, barns and cottages, board and batten shutters provide a "country" look. Homes that are trying for a “French Country” look may install board and batten shutters.
Bermuda Shutters:
Designed for the tropics and often used for sun screening and moderate storm protection, one shutter panel will usually cover the entire window. It is hinged from the top and installed with a custom-fit support arm to keep the shutter in an open position -- perfect for capturing ocean breezes.
